We are raising money for multiple myeloma research

In 2018 we lost our sister Lily Robinson after a battle with Multiple Myeloma.  Now we are taking the fight to this disease.

we are raising awareness & funds in honor of Lily Robinson

I have been looking for a charitable organization to dedicate my time towards helping for several years.  Our sister got sick in February 2016 where she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma.  She fought hard until October 2018 where after endless rounds of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant that put her in remission for a month failed to cure her illness.  She rapidly declined in days to become another victim of this terrible disease.

Her death was very hard on our family, so I wanted to do something to honor her legacy as well as keep her very dedicated support team from her Facebook memorial page engaged with helping spread awareness for this disease.  Therefore I sought the International Myeloma Foundation’s assistance in creating a fundraising system to help spread awareness and garner funds for research grants.

After battling an unknown illness for several years myself that included me vomiting blood daily, thyroid issues, and anemia I made massive changes in my lifestyle to promote positive health and fitness.  I had spent over 10 years building my businesses, neglecting my health, and if I did not change my habits I was on a path to a short life.  I began my training incrementally because in the first few days I could not run a mile without nearly passing out.  Then after stringing together several weeks of consecutive training days I found myself rapidly losing weight and gaining a high level of fitness.  After a few short weeks I found myself having cut nearly 50 pounds of weight and I had pushed my physical abilities from the ability to run less than one mile to biking, running, and swimming multiple marathon distances each week in training.  The only thing left for me was to create a goal to train towards.

I choose to compete in Ironman competitions after many weeks brainstorming what I could do to keep myself focused.  My competitions will be on-going with the goal of qualifying in the future to compete in my age division in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii and qualifying for the Ultraman.

I decided to partner with the International Myeloma Foundation to fulfill Lily’s legacy after her defeat by this awful disease.  She is one of thousands of people affected by this cancer that has no cure.  My goal is to raise enough funds to help earn $50,000 grants for research teams working tirelessly on a cure for this disease.  Every $50,000 raised will help fund Multiple Myeloma research grants for the scientific teams working diligently to save these lives.

I believe that we must stand together in this fight and my part will be training 8-12 hours daily to be ready to perform at the highest personal level possible for my competitions.  My first Ironman event will be 27 September in Augusta, Georgia.  I humbly ask that you help me with a small donation to the International Myeloma Foundation and to also spread my mission to anyone you know through social media, word of mouth, and any other method possible.

We can ONLY defeat this disease TOGETHER.

Lily's story is like many with multiple myeloma

Multiple Myeloma Fundraiser
Like many Americans who battle cancer, Lilly was a wife, mother, sister, friend, and co-worker.  If you met her once, you would remember her. Her personality was big and bright.

She was a radio DJ and loved interacting with her community. Later, she decided to become a 911 dispatcher.  She loved what she did, and in between chemo treatments she would find a way to go back to work saying how ‘people need help.’

She found joy in giving random gifts to people even if it meant shopping from her hospital bed.  Many will remember that of her.

Lilly found solace through her Support for Lilly Facebook page where she would often upload videos to share her journey with others. She also used it as a platform to educate about multiple myeloma.

She found her strength in her family fighting valiantly and bravely until her very last breath. She was a warrior even though it was excruciating pain to simply exist. She is remembered by those closest to her and through her memory, her legacy will live on.

Why do we want to do this?

Lilly was not alone in her plight. More and more people are diagnosed with multiple myeloma despite it being considered a rare form of cancer. In effect, this changes the baseline statistics completely.

We want to do our part to help doctors and scientists learn more about it so that they are able to provide more effective treatments. Ultimately, Multiple Myeloma needs as much support as possible to increase mortality rate.

we fight together

Multiple Myeloma is a devastating disease that currently has no effective cure.  Scientists are working around the clock to find one but need our help to fund their research.
Help Find A Cure
100% of the funds raised will be used to fund research grants for scientific teams actively working on a cure for this deadly disease.  A cure requires a community approach.
Fund Grants To Fight
Lily fought hard to beat multiple myeloma.  Her battle is not unlike the thousands of others fighting today.  We could not save our sister, but maybe together we can save someone else's.
